Be Kind To Animals

 Feeding Stray Dogs

Feeding stray dogs – often considered a divine act by many in India – may prove to be harmful if they are fed in an irregular manner, say animal welfare experts.

This pandemic has also affected animals ,As stray animals go without food and water, you could help make a difference

With restaurants and eateries downing shutters, strays have been struggling to find food to kill their hunger.

The coronavirus lockdown has not only forced the entire world indoors, but has put four legged strays in extreme distress. Unavailability of food and water in the scorching summer is impacting stray animals all over the country. They have nothing to eat, not even leftovers that they always relied on.

Realizing the impact, animal rights activists and NGOs have geared up to feed stray dogs and cats wherever possible, but Not all NGO cover all the places . So one thing that we can do is ,we can feed the dogs near our house.

These dogs and cats have been depending on a whole community of friendly humans. Not having anybody around for so long is quite stressful for them. Apart from feeding stray animals humans have also played a huge role in taking care of their well-being

It is very natural for people to feed dogs, but just feeding them does not make one a responsible animal lover. The rules issued by the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI), about feeding strays only at designated spots, should be followed. These rules were framed following a Delhi High Court judgment on the matter in 2011.
A key AWBI rule says that stray dogs must only be fed in places that are not frequented by people.

Feeding the stray dogs outside your house is a virtue in itself. You can see the gratitude in their eyes once you fill their stomach of those gentle souls. A great thing about street dogs is that they are as sharp and vigilant as the western dog breeds.

There is a lot of debate regarding the ideal foods that can be given to stray dogs. Street dogs indeed have a sound immune system, but you can’t feed them anything you like.

Food items loaded with sugar can cause the dog’s blood level to drop and cause liver failure. Likewise, vegetables like onion and garlic are highly toxic for dogs as they can wreck their red blood cells

To Conclude

We appreciate the fact that you want to feed the stray dogs near you. They are the ones who depend on people for their survival.
Before signing off, we also want to emphasize the importance of adopting stray pups. These dogs not only have a strong immunity but are also protective of their family. It would be great if you can give shelter to the kind animals.
